Magnetization Relaxation in Layered Superconductors

The energy of a pointlike vortex is calculated for a layered superconductor with very weak interlayer Josephson coupling. An energy barrier existing near the sample surface is found. Magnetization relaxation due to thermally activated penetration of pointlike vortices and quantum tunnelling of pointlike vortices are considered. An initial avalanche-type decay of magnetization is predicted. Magn...

I-V characteristics of high-temperature superconductors with columnar defects.

The vortex glass transition in the presence of columnar defects is studied by Monte Carlo simulations of a vortex loop model, suggested by the analogy to the T = 0 superconductor-insulator transition for dirty bosons in (2+1)D. From finite-size scaling analysis of the I-V characteristic we find two dynamical exponents describing the non-equilibrium behavior. We obtain z⊥ = 6±0.5 and z‖ = 4 ± 0....

Magnetic properties of drilled bulk high-temperature superconductors filled with a ferromagnetic powder

It is shown that filling the holes of a drilled bulk high-temperature superconductor (HTS) with a soft ferromagnetic powder enhances its trapping properties. The magnetic properties of the trapped field magnet are characterized by Hall probe mapping and magnetization measurements. This analysis is completed by a numerical model based on a 3D finite-element method where the conductivity of the s...

Scaling properties of the irreversible magnetization curves of high-temperature superconductors.

A one-parameter scaling of the magnetization curves of the high-temperature superconductor Tl-Ba-Ca-Cu-0 causes all data points in the irreversible regime to collapse into a single curve M H f~ (H/H*). The scaling field H* is inversely proportional to temperature and f+ and f are th—e scaling functions for fields H above and below H*, respectively. The results are explained in terms of the Bean...

The Nmr of High Temperature Superconductors without Anti-ferromagnetic Spin Fluctuations

A microscopic theory for the NMR anomalies of the planar Cu and O sites in su-perconducting La 1.85 Sr 0.15 CuO 4 is presented that quantitatively explains the observations without the need to invoke anti-ferromagnetic spin fluctuations on the planar Cu sites and its significant discrepancy with the observed incommensurate neutron spin fluctuations. The theory is derived from the recently publi...
